Therapy in a Different Hue
I’m Michael Scheman, a Licensed Psychoanalyst in Manhattan working with adults, couples, and creative professionals. My style blends empathy, intuition, and creative insight in a process that’s focused on your unique perspective and aims.
What Sets My
Practice Apart
My background as a theater director taught me how to listen, understand, and guide people through complexities—skills directly transferable to psychotherapy. Five years of training at the National Institute for the Psychotherapies equipped me with multiple approaches to best treat my patients.
Many of my patients express surprise at how much laughter and clarity emerge during our work together. Therapy shouldn't last forever. You’re here for meaningful growth—let’s get to it!

Anxiety & Depression
Together, we'll address the roots of your challenges, equipping you with strategies that potently fit your life and personality.

We'll focus on building more honest dialogue, repairing communication, and working with the dynamics you bring into the room.
Artists & Creatives
With years spent as a theater writer and director, I understand and empathize with your creative impulses.

As a gay man, I offer a space where your identity doesn’t need justifying—and where your experience is met with nuance and compassion.
